WHY CHOOSE A HOLISTIC HEALTH APPROACH?

First and foremost, Welcome!  If you have reached this post, perhaps you are researching alternative health options or looking to learn more about CBD, Curcumin and other highly bio-available health and wellness products.

Exactly what is holistic health and why do some people choose this option to treat whatever ailment they might be suffering from? Well, holistic health is a "form of healing that considers the whole person - body, mind, spirit, and emotions - in the quest for optimal health and wellness."  Personally, I chose a holistic health option for myself with Bio because it offered me exactly what I needed.

When our bodies are in homeostasis, everything just functions better - mind, body & soul. Homeostasis in laymen terms is "a state of balance among all the body systems needed for the body to survive and function correctly."  

I started out initially taking CBD as a way to find relief from my barometer headaches after my brain surgery.  Then I learned more about the other wellness supplements they offered and I learned about the rapid-cell technology behind Bio and its products. WHY DOES CBD WORK SO WELL?

Now that you are familiar with CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, you may remember that it is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of the cannabis plant. CBD is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. You may have wondered how can one thing work so well for so many different things in our body?  And how come it doesn't make you high? 

Well, the answer is three letters: E.C.S.

"Cannabinoids interact directly with our bodies through the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a complex system that assists the body in maintaining homeostasis — it helps regulate metabolism, intra-cellular communication, appetite and memory, along with our immune and pain responses.  

The human body naturally produces its own cannabinoids, known as endo-cannabinoids. The ECS is designed to regulate and dispense these compounds throughout the body, so the cannabinoids from marijuana seamlessly integrate into the body’s own system. Until researchers began studying the effects of marijuana on the body, the ECS system was unknown — after studying cannabinoids and their cellular interactions, scientists discovered an entirely new bodily system.

Consequently, because we have an endo-cannibinoid system with receptors (CB1 & CB2), our bodies are more receptive to accepting CBD.  It is also important to note that Hemp-derived CBD, contains .03% THC, (which under U.S. law a hemp plant must contain no more than that legal limit.)

In order for CBD to work best, you should take CBD via the sublingual method.  The amazing benefit of taking our oil-free CBD tincture, is its high bio-availability, meaning the body is able to effectively utilize more of the cannabinoids in the daily tincture (when administered sublingual.)  It is always recommended to start with a low amount, "(low and slow") and then slowly work your way up to find the optimal dose.

I TOOK CBD AND NOTHING HAPPENED

If you are one of those people who said, " I took CBD and nothing happened," let's discuss a few things.

First, I have to ask you, did you take CBD Oil or Oil-Free CBD because there is a huge difference?!  Let me be very clear before I go on with all my explanations.  CBD is an alternative health option.  It is not for everyone.  For example, I choose to take CBD for myself for a variety of reasons (as it relates to my health.) After my nephroctomy, I was told I should not take NSAIDs (ie: Advil) so I had to find an alternate option to help alleviate my various symptoms.

Many people choose to take CBD for a variety reasons from relieving stress, anxiety, to aches and pains, to help with sleep and more and they have had great success; otherwise, this industry would not be booming!

However, I am here to talk to YOU, the one who did not have success with CBD, simply because I want to make sure you gave it a real chance and you tried the best possible option. Not just popped a couple of gummies or took CBD for two or three days and said it didn't work.  

Again, this is not for everyone and there will be some people who choose to continue with prescription pills as their remedies but there are some of us, whose bodies cannot afford that risk and side effects.  I am very aware that: 1) there will be people who perhaps it does not help, for whatever the reason is and 2) there will always be skeptics and haters. That's okay,

My goal is simply to educate what I have learned about CBD and how I have benefited from it, as it relates to my own experience and if I can change someone's life for the better by helping them find alternative health solutions, then I have made a difference!

A few factors to consider about CBD:

• Did you take CBD oil or Oil-free CBD?
• Did it come from a company that has 3rd-party testing?
• Where does the hemp in your CBD come from?
• Are you vaping this CBD?
• How much time did you give yourself taking it?
• Are you taking the right strength for you?
• Marijuana and CBD are not the same (see difference)
• Where did you buy it from (gas station, drug store etc...)

There are also people who just say they rather smoke pot (marijuana.)  Well, if you don't already know, CBD and Marijuana are not the same thing.  While medicinal marijuana does have health benefits, there are some people who don't want to get high on a daily basis, just healthy!

Also, I have to address vaping.  As trendy as vaping became recently, it also became deadly for many.  While some people think it's "cooler" to inhale (vape) their CBD oil, the side effects are very detrimental to the human body and especially the lungs.  (I have to point out that when most people choose to take CBD, it is not for the trend or to look cool, it is because they are looking for an alternative health option.)  Vaping is not good for you because the "byproducts that can be created when the solvents are heated to high temperatures are also dangerous." It can even be as toxic as the carcinogen present in cigarette smoke. So basically, even though it might look trendy and fun to do, vaping is terrible for your lungs and your body in general.

Okay, now to address the issue of whether you have taken CBD oil or Oil-free CBD.  Today's most popular CBD brands come from hemp-derived CBD. Hemp-derived CBD is an all-natural botanical extract that comes from the hemp plant, which provides some of the highest concentrations of CBD.  There are some challenges with hemp oil because it is lipophilic (meaning oil-based). When it is mixed with water, the oil simply floats on the top. We all know that oil and water do not mix, whether it is CBD oil or the olive oil used in your salad - oil does not mix with water!

So, given that oil and water don't mix, when you take regular CBD oil that is being sold out there in the market, even if it is a top-notch brand, you are basically wasting your money.  Why, you ask?  Well because most of the CBD oil you are taking is being excreted!  Our bodies absorb only about 5-10%, maybe 20% at most of regular CBD oil and then the rest of it, you literally "pee it out!"  I learned this the hard way, after taking CBD oil for two years.  As science and technology developed, I did more research and learned more.


In order for CBD to work effectively, it needs to reach the cannabinoid receptors inside your brain and body and in order to do this, the CBD has to get into your bloodstream. This is why taking CBD via the sublingual method with the highest bio-availability is the best!

I always tell my clients, when it comes to taking CBD, the best recommendation is to "go low and slow" to gauge how your body reacts and increase dosage if need be. If you have been following my health journey, you will know that I have been taking CBD oil for almost 2 years, that is, until just recently!

Why Does it Matter if the CBD is Absorbed?

COULD CHRONIC INFLAMMATION BE THE ROOT OF DISEASE?

CHRONIC INFLAMMATION is one of the top reasons the human body becomes diseased.  Disease occurs when our bodies are no longer in homeostasis. Homeostasis is the state in which our bodies are in balance.  The technical definition is:  "The process by which physical and chemical conditions within the internal environment of the body are maintained within tolerable ranges even when the external environment changes." 

According to an article in Harvard Health Publishing, INFLAMMATION is a unifying theory of disease.  For example, this excerpt below, from a study in the Harvard Health Publishing, mentions cancer and chronic inflammation: 

“Nearly 150 years ago, the pathologist Rudolf Virchow termed cancer a "wound that doesn't heal." He noticed that tissue from malignant tumors contained high concentrations of inflammatory cells and hypothesized that the tumors often formed at sites of chronic inflammation. Recent evidence suggests that he was right.
About 15% of cancers — including cancers of the liver, cervix, and stomach — are closely linked to infectious diseases. Cigarette smoke and asbestos contain inflammatory substances. As previously mentioned, curcumin, is a great tool for fighting inflammation. It is a a bright yellow chemical produced by Curcuma longa plants. It is the principal curcuminoid of turmeric. Curcumin is known to be anti-inflammatory, anti-tumoral and a powerful antioxidant.

CBD GREEN SMOOTHIE

Here is a simple and delicious recipe for a healthy smoothie with a twist of nature.

 
Green CBD Smoothie Recipe

   

Ingredients

• one small or half a large ripe pear, cored
• 1/2 cup plain yogurt
• two generous handfuls of baby spinach
• 1/4 - 1/2 cup water
• handful of ice cubes
• juice of 1/2 a lemon
• 3-5 drops CBD  (CBD Daily)

 

 

 

Directions

1. Add all ingredients in the blender or a bottle shaker (seen below)
2. Blend until smooth.
3. Enjoy!

You can always use one of these bottle blenders as well to shake it up and take it on the go!

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD AND MARIJUANA

If you are here, I am guessing that you are now familiar with the term CBD (cannabidiol) but you may still be unsure what the difference is between hemp-derived CBD and Marijuana is. Many people often ask how it is that they will not get a high from CBD, if it comes form cannabis? 

Good question...

CBD derived from hemp does come from the cannabis plant but it is NOT marijuana. The difference is that hemp plants contain no more than 0.3 percent (by dry weight) of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive substance found in marijuana. By comparison, marijuana typically contains 5 to 20 percent THC.  

CBD is best used as an alternative means for pain relief without the euphoria, and more importantly, without the risk of addiction. While marijuana is rich in psychoactive tetra-hydrocannabinol (THC), hemp produces mostly a non-euphoric cannabidiol (CBD.)


CBD oil is a cannabinoid derived from the cannabis plant. Hemp and hemp derived products are legal under the Farm Bill, as long as their THC content is less than 0.3%.

You CANNOT get high on hemp!

CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. While CBD is a component of marijuana (one of hundreds), by itself it does not cause a “high.” According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

In the U.S., people looking for pain relief often turn to opioids, popular because they can effectively block the pain receptors in your brain, but there are two major downsides: numerous side effects and a very real likelihood of addiction.

Gabriella Gobbi, professor of psychiatry and researcher in the Brain Repair and Integrative Neuroscience (BRaIN) Program at McGill, reported that CBD, being free from side effects, is a safe alternative to prescription drugs for pain relief, without the “high” associated with THC.
 
The pain-relieving effects of the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa L.) are 30 times more potent than aspirin for decreasing inflammation, according to scientists at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.

According to an article in Harvard Health Publishing: "CBD has been touted for a wide variety of health issues, but the strongest scientific evidence is for its effectiveness in treating some of the cruelest childhood epilepsy syndromes, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which typically don’t respond to anti-seizure medications. In numerous studies, CBD was able to reduce the number of seizures, and in some cases it was able to stop them altogether. Videos of the effects of CBD on these children and their seizures are readily available on the Internet for viewing, and they are quite striking."

One of the most powerful things abut using cannabis or hemp-related products is that "using cannabis, especially when it’s so successful in bringing relief, is that it’s a natural (not synthetic) substance that could reduce the out-of-control addiction rates now being acknowledged by both the medical and law enforcement communities. Plus, as noted by Medical News Today side effects from CBD use are neither harmful nor lethal.  The most common side effect was tiredness.

CBD is readily obtainable in most parts of the United States. All 50 states have laws legalizing CBD with varying degrees of restriction. Currently, many people obtain CBD online without a medical cannabis license.  According to the Farm Bill passed on Dec. 20, 2018, it is legal for farmers to grow industrial hemp for the first time since Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the “Marijuana Tax Act of 1937.
